The Jesse Bethel High School volleyball team’s winning streak continues, securing a home playoff match after sweeping Roseland University Prep on Saturday. The Jaguars dominated 25-13, 26-24, 25-15.
Led by league MVP Precilla Williams, who delivered 29 assists, the team’s momentum was unstoppable. Riah Paopao added four aces, 16 kills, and six digs, while Kayla Caliboso contributed three aces, 10 kills, and three digs.
This Wednesday, the Jaguars face No. 8 seed San Rafael in the semifinals. Coach Valencia Puu is optimistic about their chances. “As long as we work together like we have all season, we’ll be okay,” Puu said.
Bethel previously faced San Rafael in August, losing in five games. However, Puu believes her team is better prepared now. “My girls are ready to work for the big match,” she said.
With a 22-6 record this season, including 6-5 against winning teams, the Jaguars are poised for success. A win on Wednesday could set up a thrilling matchup against cross-town rival St. Pat’s, winner of the Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division. Bethel won the league’s Stone Division.
The team’s focus on teamwork and determination drives their success. “We’ve come a long way since our first match against San Rafael,” Puu noted. The Jaguars are now more cohesive and confident.
The Jaguars are eyeing a playoff victory, and they’re ready for the challenge. Their strong record and renewed confidence position them for a deep playoff run.
The community is rallying behind the team, eager to see them succeed. The Jaguars, with their momentum and teamwork, are a force to be reckoned with.
