The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities announced Friday that Dave Bronson, former Anchorage mayor, will manage Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. With over 40 years of aviation expertise, Bronson’s career spans military and commercial aviation roles across Alaska and the United States.
Bronson, a former B-52 pilot in the US Air Force, also flew commercially for Northwest Airlines and Delta. While serving in the Alaska Air National Guard, he held roles as a maintenance officer and C-130 pilot. These positions ultimately helped him in earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Furthermore, the state highlighted his extensive aviation background as a strong foundation for leading the airport. Ryan Anderson, DOT&PF Commissioner, praised Bronson’s aviation expertise and public sector leadership, describing him as instrumental to ANC’s continued success.
“Dave Bronson’s blend of hands-on aviation expertise and public sector experience is an asset to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport,” stated Anderson. Bronson, who served as Anchorage’s mayor from 2021 to 2024, expressed gratitude for the appointment, referring to his long-standing connection to ANC.
“I am honored to take on the role of Airport Manager at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport,” stated Bronson. He will assume the role at Ted Stevens Anchorage Airport on January 27th.
