ALAKANUK
Saturday, June 21
– 11 a.m. Alaska State Troopers Emmonak Post received a report of an attempted arson on a family home in Alakanuk. The home was occupied by adults and children at the time of the attempted fire. One family member woke up to her dogs barking and observed William P. Kokrine, 26, of Alakanuk, outside her residence using his Bic lighter and holding the flame against the siding of the home. The home sustained minor fire damage to the outside. No family members were injured. A warrant was issued by Bethel courts. On June 24, at approximately 2:30 p.m. Kokrine was arrested in Alakanuk without incident, charged with arson in the first degree and transported to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

Sunday, June 22 – 5 a.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report that Paul Morris Phillip Jr., 36, of Alakanuk, was intoxicated and had fired a firearm toward people. Additional details of the report indicated that one person was injured in the head as a result of the assault, and that because of the proximity of the suspect to the health aide, it was not possible to immediately render aid to the victim. Further information indicated that the suspect was alone in the house with his 4-year-old son. Troopers were not able to immediately ascertain the condition of the child. The Alaska State Troopers Emmonak post responded to Alakanuk via watercraft. After several efforts to remotely contact Phillip were unsuccessful, troopers entered the house in which Phillip was and took him into custody. During the arrest contact with Phillip, it became known that a firearm had been situated to discharge upon entry into the residence toward the front door. The weapon did not discharge and was later rendered safe. As a result of Phillip being taken into custody, the gunshot victim, a 14-year-old female, was removed to the clinic for treatment. The victim was later medical evacuated to Bethel for additional treatment. The 4-year-old, who was not injured, was returned to the custody of his mother. Phillip was remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center on charges of assault in the first degree, misconduct involving weapons in the second degree and misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree. Other charges will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review. Alcohol was a factor in the incident.

ANIAK
Friday, June 20
– 8:40 a.m. Alaska State Troopers responded to a disturbance on Willow Street in Aniak. Sean Alexie, 20, of Russian Mission, was contacted. It was discovered that Alexie had an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to turn himself in after being convicted of driving under the influence. Alexie was transported to Bethel and remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

BETHEL
Friday, June 20
– 10:30 a.m. The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel arrested Xavier Boyscout, 21, of Chevak, in Bethel on an outstanding arrest warrant. The arrest warrant was issued by the Bethel 4th District Court for Boyscout on charges of sexual assault in the first degree, two counts of sexual assault in the second degree, two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree and sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree. Boyscout was transported and remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center without incident.

CHEVAK
Saturday, June 14
– Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report, from Chevak Village Police, of a possible sexual assault that had occurred earlier that morning. This investigation is ongoing.

EGEGIK
Sunday, June 22
– 9:56 a.m. Alaska State Troopers in King Salmon received a report of an assault that occurred in the village of Egegik. Troopers from the King Salmon Alaska State Troopers post responded on the morning of June 23. An investigation revealed that a 41-year-old woman had been assaulted by two other females in the early morning hours of June 20. The 41-year-old female received minor injuries from the assault and did not seek medical attention. An investigation continues.

EMMONAK
Monday, June 23
– 1 p.m. Alaska State Troopers arrested Thomas Aguchak, 37, of Nunam Iqua, on an outstanding warrant on a charge of assault in the fourth degree. The warrant was issued as a result of an investigation into a domestic violence assault that occurred in Nunam Iqua on June 18. Aguchak was taken into custody without incident and held at the Emmonak city jail facility pending transport to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. The original bail amount was set at $1,500 and a court-approved third party custodian.
 
GRAYLING
Thursday, May 22
– Alaska State Troopers in Aniak investigated a report that Dennis West, 56, of Grayling was violating court conditions of release. An investigation revealed that on May 14, West violated court conditions of release by consuming alcohol and being without his third-party custodian when he was required to.

HOOPER BAY
Friday, June 20
– Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report, from Hooper Bay Village Police, of a possible sexual assault that had occurred that day. The investigation is ongoing.

KASIGLUK
Monday, June 23
– 6:13 a.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report from a village peace officer of the Kasigluk Public Safety office that James J. Nicholas, 21, of Kasigluk, was armed with a shotgun, was intoxicated and had discharged several rounds outside of his parent’s residence then fled to a remote location. Nicholas was later confronted by his father who was able to disarm and subdue Nicholas until the VPO was able to assume custody of Nicholas. Nicholas was detained pending transport to Bethel on the charge of misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree. No injuries were reported as a result of Nicholas’ conduct.

KOTLIK
Thursday, June 19
– 2:30 p.m. Alaska State Troopers Emmonak Post received a report of an assault in Kotlik. A 19-year-old female reported she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Robin Bender, 25, of Kotlik. Charges of assault in the fourth degree involving domestic violence are being referred to the district attorney’s office.

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
Saturday, June 21 – Noon. Alaska State Troopers received a report from Marvin Lawrence, 53, of Anchorage, that his house in Mountain Village had been broken into. Lawrence had closed the house up in September and returned to find that it had been broken into. No major items were reported missing. It is unclear as to the time of the incident. An investigation continues. 

 
ANIAK
Sunday, June 1
– 1:05 p.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report that Jerry Simeon, of Aniak, had assaulted an Aniak resident. An investigation is ongoing.

Wednesday, June 4 – 3 a.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report that an Aniak man had assaulted another Aniak resident in a residence. Charges are being forwarded to the district attorney’s office.

Saturday, June 7
– 3 a.m. The Alaska State Troopers received a report from an Aniak woman who reported that Marko Nicoli, of Aniak, threw rocks at her, striking her in the arm. Charges are being forwarded to the district attorney’s office. 12:06 p.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report that the public library had been vandalized. The library was burglarized between June 3 and June 7. If anyone has any information, contact the Alaska State Troopers, Aniak, at 675-4398 or (800) 675-4398.

Thursday, June 12 – 12:24 p.m. Bryan Kelila, 27, was arrested in Aniak and charged with reckless endangerment, misconduct involving firearms and probation violation. Kelila was transported to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel and incarcerated. Alcohol was involved.

Saturday, June 14 – 9 a.m. A complainant, 22, of Aniak, contacted Alaska State Troopers to report that Eugene Morgan, 23, of Aniak, threatened him with a knife inside of the complainant’s residence. Morgan fled prior to law enforcement arrival. An investigation continues.

CHUATHBALUK
Tuesday, June 17
– Nick Avakumoff, 40, of Chuathbaluk, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to turn himself in to corrections to serve time for previous assault charges. Avakumoff was also charged with two more counts of assault involving domestic violence in the fourth degree and one count of violation of conditions of release. Alcohol was involved in every charge.

EMMONAK
Sunday, June 15
– 4 p.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report that a female resident of Emmonak had been sexually assaulted by a male resident of Emmonak. A suspect has been identified, and troopers are investigating.

Wednesday, June 18 – 4:42 a.m. Bethel Alaska State Troopers received information from an Emmonak health aide that Elizabeth Redfox, 41, of Emmonak, had died. Investigation revealed that Redfox was suffering from cancer and that her death was expected. Redfox died at her residence in Emmonak at about 3:50 a.m. and the death was attended by her family. No foul play was suspected. The state medical examiner’s office was contacted and authorized release of the remains to family. The next of kin were notified.

GAMBELL
Thursday, June 12
– 3:20 a.m. James Walunga, 29, of Gambell, was arrested and charged with violating his probation after an investigation determined that he consumed alcohol. Walunga’s probation conditions include that he was not to consume alcohol. Walunga was arrested without incident. 3:55 a.m. Aaron Oseak Jr., 39, of Gambell, was arrested and charged with violating his probation after an investigation determined that he consumed alcohol. Oseak’s probation conditions were that he not consume or possess alcohol. He was arrested without incident. 4 p.m. Tenadore Oozeva, 22, of Gambell, was arrested and charged with violating conditions of probation after the investigation revealed that he had consumed alcohol in violation of his probation and had stolen money from another person in Gambell.

KALSKAG
Wednesday, June 4
– 10:10 a.m. An Alaska State Trooper received a report that Adrian Hoffman, 30, of Bethel, was harassing the medical personnel and pilot of an Aeromed flight in Kalskag. The harassment continued until the medical personnel left Kalskag for Bethel. Charges are being forwarded to the district attorney’s office.

PITKA’S POINT
Wednesday, June 18
– 10 a.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report from a Pitka’s Point resident stating that someone had entered her house uninvited and had to be removed. A subsequent investigation revealed that Anthony Wasky, 21, of Pitka’s Point had forced his way into a residence to talk to the occupant. Wasky was charged with one count of criminal trespass in the first degree. A summons will be issued to Wasky regarding the matter. Alcohol was not a factor.

ST. MARYS
Sunday, June 15
– 3:15 a.m. Alaska State Troopers assisted St. Marys police in an investigation. A subsequent investigation revealed that Nathan Oney, 19, of Pitka’s Point was on probation for habitual consumption of alcohol. Oney was held in protective custody after consuming an excessive amount of alcohol. Oney was fined $1,000 and released on June 15. Alcohol was a major factor in the incident.

WHITE MOUNTAIN
Sunday, June 15
– 12:15 a.m. White Mountain Village Public Safety Officer Dan Harrelson received a complaint from a 17-year-old male that Noah Shoogukwruk, 24, of White Mountain, was armed with a knife and refused to leave the complainant’s residence. Shoogukwruk allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted Harrelson. Shoogukwruk was arrested and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree, assault in the third degree, resisting arrest and assault in the fourth degree on a peace officer. Alcohol was involved. Shoogukwruk was telephonically arraigned. An investigation determined the possibility of additional victims. Investigation continues; anyone with information is requested to contact Alaska State Troopers Nome at (800) 443-2835. 

 

ANIAK
Monday, June 2
– A sexual assault of an adult female was reported in the community of Aniak to the Alaska State Troopers Aniak Post. Alcohol was a factor in the event. The investigation is continuing.

Tuesday, June 10 – 2:15 a.m. Adrian Hoffman, 30, of Bethel, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, vehicle theft in the first degree and misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree. Hoffman was arrested after troopers were advised that he was intoxicated and driving around Aniak in a Chevy Blazer. When Hoffman was contacted, he was driving a vehicle that belongs to the city of Aniak. Hoffman also had in his possession a SKS rifle. 

CHUATHBALUK
Wednesday, June 11
– 4:45 p.m. An assault involving domestic violence was reported to the Aniak post of the Alaska State Troopers. The victim did not require medical attention. The investigation continues.

GAMBELL
Saturday, June 7
– 2 a.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at a Gambell residence. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of McCormick Tungiyan, 19, of Gambell, for minor consuming alcohol and probation violation. Tungiyan was transported to Nome and remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center.

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
Thursday, June 12
– St. Marys Alaska State Troopers forwarded two counts of assault in the fourth degree charges on Alvina Goetz, 39, of Mountain Village; and two counts of criminal mischief in the fourth degree and two counts of assault in the fourth degree charges on Charles Goetz, 37, of Mountain Village, from an incident that occurred on May 2. Mountain Village police responded to an assault at the John Joe residence. Tammy Aguchak, Alvina Goetz, John Joe and VPO Charles Goetz were all participants in the incident, according to the trooper report. A subsequent investigation revealed that all four had been drinking alcoholic beverages at the Joe residence. A struggle ensued, and Aguchak and Joe were assaulted by both Charlie and Alvina Goetz, the report stated. Both Joe and Alvina Goetz received injuries but refused medical attention. Alcohol was a major factor in the incident.

NUNAM IQUA
Friday, June 6
– 1:45 p.m. Alaska State Troopers Emmonak Post arrested and charged Edward J. Aguchak, 24, of St. Michaels for violating his probation. Aguchak violated his probation by traveling from St. Michaels to Nunam Iqua without a travel permit from his probation officer or Nome Adult Probation Office. Aguchak was transported to Bethel Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

NUNAPITCHUK
Saturday, June 7
– 12:10 a.m. An unoccupied red 18-foot Lund boat run aground with the motor running and in forward gear was found on the Kuskokwim River bank near the mouth of the Johnson River by a resident of Nunapitchuk. The empty boat was reported to Bethel troopers at about 12:20 p.m. June 7. An investigation found the boat belonged to Billy Nicholi, no confirmed age, of Atmautluak. Nicholi was last seen at a fish camp just south of Oscarville on June 6 at about 11 p.m. Nicholi was reported to have been very intoxicated. Nicholi was wearing a life vest when he left the fish camp in his boat. Nicholi had said he was going home to Atmautluak when he left the fish camp. On June 7 at about 2 p.m., Search and Rescue Hasty teams were sent to the area of the boat and several fish camps including Nicholi’s fish camp. State aircraft flew the area of the boat and 20 miles down river over both banks, a trooper landed near the boat and searched the area on foot. At about 7:30 p.m. several Search and Rescue boat teams were sent out to drag the river near were the boat was found and search the bank on foot. Nicholi’s body was found Sunday, June 8, in the Kuskokwim River near the mouth of Johnson River, not far from where the 18-foot boat had been found, according to troopers and an Associated Press report. His body has been released to his next of kin.

PITKA’S POINT
Friday, June 6
– 4:25 p.m. Alaska State Troopers contacted Martha Wasky, 39, of Pitka’s Point. An investigation revealed that Wasky was in violation of her custodial duties as a court-approved third party. Wasky was ordered to be in 24-hour sight and sound of her son, Gabriel Wasky, while he is on conditions of release. Martha Wasky was in violation of her duties by not monitoring her son for extended periods of time. Wasky was issued a summons in regard to the matter. 

QUINHAGAK
Friday, June 6
– 7:30 p.m. The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received information that a Piper Super Cub airplane had crashed approximately 17.3 miles south of the village of Quinhagak near Jack Smiths Bay. Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene of the accident via state aircraft and private helicopter. Alaska State Troopers arrived at the scene at approximately 10 p.m. and confirmed that the pilot of the downed aircraft was deceased. The Anchorage Rescue Coordination Center and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified of the incident. The investigation into the aircraft accident is ongoing. An update was later filed identifying the victim of the crash is identified as Shaun Lunt, 33, of Loma Linda, Calif., Lunt was flying one of two Piper Super Cubs traveling together at the time of the crash. The other pilot of the Super Cub, identified as Lon “Loni” Habersetzer, of Washington, had successfully landed in the area at the time the crash was reported, but then left the area for unknown reasons. Troopers have been unable to locate him at the time of this report. The two did not file a flight plan but had bought fuel in Dillingham before flying north to where the crash occurred. Their intended destination remains unknown. Representatives from the NTSB and FAA were scheduled to arrive in Bethel that afternoon before traveling to the crash site to investigate the cause of the crash.

ST. MARYS
Sunday, June 8
– 11:05 p.m.  A village public safety officer responded to the Lily Afcan residence in St. Marys. The officer contacted Willie Long, 39, of St. Marys. Long was intoxicated and on conditions of release. Long was not to be consuming alcohol as a condition of the court order. Long was arrested and charged with one count of violating conditions of release and a probation violation. Long was transported to Bethel and remanded at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Alcohol was a major factor.

Monday, June 9 – 9:45 a.m. A village public safety officer contacted David Lake Sr., 59, of St. Marys. Lake is assigned as a court-approved third-party custodian for Willie Long, of St. Marys. Lake violated his court order as a custodian by not being in 24-hour sight and sound of Long, according to the officer’s report. Long was arrested the previous evening and Lake was no where to be found. A summons was issued to Lake regarding the matter.

Thursday, June 12 – 9:15 a.m. Alaska State Troopers assisted village police of St. Marys in contacting a 17-year-old male, of St. Marys, and Troy Thompson, 19, of St. Marys. Both individuals had been drinking alcohol and were intoxicated. Both Thompson and the 17-year-old male were charged with minor consuming alcohol. A summons will be issued regarding each incident. Alcohol was a major factor.

 

ALAKANUK
Friday, May 29 – 1:30 a.m. Alaska State Troopers Emmonak Post received a report that shots were fired in the village of Alakanuk. Troopers responded, and their investigation indicated that Morris A. Patrick, 27, of Alakanuk, was intoxicated and fired his weapon, according to the trooper report. No other reports or injuries were received. A misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for possible charges.

Sunday, June 1 – 7 a.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report that a female resident of Alakanuk had been sexually assaulted earlier that morning. A suspect has been identified, and the investigation continues.

BETHEL
Saturday, May 30 – Alaska State Troopers arrested Patrick Seton, 23, of Kotlik, on an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant stemmed from a 2006 case in which he failed to appear for a hearing. Seton was remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Bail was set at $2,500.

Sunday, May 31 –10:30 a.m. The Bethel Police Department requested the assistance of the Alaska State Troopers in checking on and recovering an overturned boat three miles south of Bethel on the Kuskokwim River. Alaska State Troopers responded, and with the assistance of Bethel Search and Rescue, recovered the boat and anchored it to shore. No persons were found in or around the boat. The boat was without a motor, oars and registration and appeared to be abandoned and drifting with the tide. 12:41 p.m. The Bethel Police Department contacted the Alaska State Troopers and requested assistance with a male subject, later identified as William Chief, 20, of Bethel, who was in a residence, located near the 200 block of East Avenue in Bethel, and threatening to commit suicide with a firearm. Troopers responded to the area. Upon arrival, the roads to the residence were blocked off while troopers and Bethel police officers took positions around the residence. While outside the residence, troopers were able to make verbal contact with the distraught Chief. Troopers were able to talk Chief out of the residence and into custody. Chief was then transported by the Bethel Police Department to the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital, where he remained for psychological evaluation. Alcohol was not a factor in this incident.

CHEVAK
Thursday, June 5 – The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report of a sexual assault of a minor in the village of Chevak. The investigation continues.

EMMONAK
Monday, June 2 – 9:30 a.m. Alaska State Troopers were notified by a resident of Emmonak that at approximately 7 a.m. he had heard what appeared to be a distress signal transmitted by VHF and that the distress signal indicated possible engine trouble with a watercraft. The resident further stated that from the signal strength that it possibly came from north of Emmonak. Troopers then contacted local agencies and air services attempting to ascertain the veracity of the report. The AST Emmonak post contacted other trooper posts. At this point all investigative steps met with negative results, and no other reports were received. At approximately 2 p.m. troopers received a report that a boat carrying six young adults left Emmonak at approximately 2 that same morning and had yet to arrive at its destination in Kotlik. A search by aircraft and watercraft was initiated, and as of 5 p.m. had yet to meet positive findings. At about 9 p.m., the group was located and the boat was towed to Kotlik. All were in good health.

KONGIGANAK
Tuesday, June 3 – 10 p.m. George Evan, of Kongiganak, was arrested and charged with assault. An investigation revealed that after an argument, Evan punched the victim in the face several times. Alcohol was a factor. Evan is being transported to Bethel, where he was be remanded to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center.
 
MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
Tuesday, June 3 – 9:15 p.m. Alaska State Troopers contacted John Smith Moses, 42, of Mountain Village. Moses was subsequently arrested on an outstanding warrant for violating conditions of felony probation. Moses was transported to Bethel and remanded at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Bail was set at $2,500. Alcohol was a major factor. 

NUNAPITCHUK
Friday, May 30 – 8:05 p.m. The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a call from a Nunapitchuk village police officer who reported that Christopher Nick, 25, of Bethel, had been reported by his father, Michael Nick, as an overdue hunter. Christopher was said to have left the village of Nunapitchuk sometime on the morning of May 29 to go bird hunting. On the evening of May 30, Christopher’s father, Michael, became concerned when Christopher did not return home. A myriad of Christopher’s family members were contacted throughout several villages over the next few hours, however, no one had seen or heard from Christopher in a couple of days. At 1:30 a.m. May 31, before a search and rescue was launched, Christopher returned home safely from hunting after having experienced minor boat trouble. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this incident.

NAPAKIAK
Saturday, May 31 – A Alaska Native female, 16, of Napakiak, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Bethel District Court. The warrant was issued after the subject did not appear for a court appearance on a charge of minor consuming alcohol. The subject was transported to Bethel and lodged at the Bethel Youth Facility pending arraignment. An additional Alaska Native female, 16, of Napakiak, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Bethel District Court. The warrant was issued after the subject did not appear for a court appearance on a charge of minor consuming alcohol. The subject was transported to Bethel and lodged at the Bethel Youth Facility pending arraignment.

QUINHAGAK
Saturday, May 30 – Alaska State Troopers in Bethel traveled to the village of Quinhagak and attempted to locate Axel Hanson, who has two outstanding arrest warrants totaling $20,000. Hanson was not contacted. On May 31, at approximately 6 a.m., Quinhagak village police officers located Hanson at his residence. At 6:30 a.m., Alaska State Troopers contacted Hanson by phone and advised him to turn himself in to village police. The warrants were issued by the Palmer Third District for failing to appear for sentencing on three counts of theft in the second degree and three counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree. Hanson was transported to Bethel and remanded to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center without incident.

Sunday, June 1 – 4:44 p.m. Bethel Alaska State Troopers received a phone call from tribal police officer Thomas Brown Sr. from the village of Quinhagak reporting that a 2-year-old boy had fallen into the Kanektok River about four miles up from the village of Quinhagak. The young boy was on a picnic with his father and mother at the time and was not wearing a personal float device. A search of the area with three Alaska State Trooper aircraft and local search and rescue came up negative. The body recovery continued into the night and on June 2. No alcohol was involved.

RUSSIAN MISSION
Wednesday, June 4 – The Alaska State Troopers issued a summons to Richard Pitka, 29, of Russian Mission, after completing the investigation of an incident that occurred on June 2. An investigation revealed that Pitka had punched a hole in the wall of the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Clinic in Russian Mission. Alcohol was a factor.

SCAMMON BAY

Sunday, June 1 – The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report from Paula Yunak, 31, in Scammon Bay, who reported that her boyfriend assaulted her earlier that morning. In the absence of any village public safety officer or village police officers, Alaska State Troopers responded to Scammon Bay to investigate the allegations. At the conclusion of the investigation, Yunak’s boyfriend, Joseph Atcherian, 31, of Kalskag, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault in the fourth degree involving domestic violence, interfering with the report of a crime involving domestic violence and prohibition of alcohol possession after election. Atcherian was transported and remanded to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident.

SLEETMUTE
Sunday, June 1 – 3 a.m. The Alaska State Trooper received a report that Kuzma Effemka, 38, of Sleetmute, had assaulted a family member. An investigation revealed that Effemka had struck a family member during an argument, according to the trooper report. He was arrested, charged with assault and transported to Bethel where he was lodged at Yukon Kuskokwim Correction Center.

ST. MARYS
Wednesday, May 28 – 10:25 p.m. A village public safety officer contacted Bernadine Long, 47, of St. Marys. The public safety officer and a village peace officer observed Long operating a Honda four-wheeler. A subsequent investigation revealed that Long was intoxicated. Long was transported to the Alaska State Trooper post for Datamaster testing. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Long was placed in custody at the St. Marys jail and released on her own recognizance by the St. Marys Court. 11:45 p.m. A village public safety officer contacted Ivan Sipary, 27, of St. Marys. Barnett observed Sipary driving a Honda four-wheeler. Sipary was transported to the Alaska State Trooper post for Datamaster testing. He was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of driving under the influence. Sipary was jailed at the St. Marys Police Department. Bail was set at $250.

Wednesday, June 4 – 9:15 p.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report from a St. Marys resident that he had an uninvited person in his house. Subsequent investigation revealed that Anthony Sipary, 18, of St. Marys, was severely intoxicated and was in the wrong residence. Once in custody, Sipary commenced destroying the St. Marys jail. Damages were estimated at $500. Sipary was charged with one count of minor consuming alcohol, criminal trespass in the second degree, disorderly conduct and one count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree. Sipary also violated terms of probation by consuming alcohol, the trooper report stated. Sipary was transported to Bethel and remanded at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Alcohol was a major.

TOKSOOK BAY
Wednesday, May 21 – 5:56 a.m. Alaska State Troopers Bethel received a report from the village police officer in Toksook Bay that one of the government offices of Toksook Bay had been burglarized. The perpetrators stole a safe from inside of the building but were unsuccessful with forcing the safe open. Aside from some minor cosmetic damage to the exterior of the safe, there was no significant damage reported. The investigation is continuing.

Sunday, May 25 – 1:57 p.m. Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report from the village police officer in Toksook Bay, that one of the general stores in Toksook Bay had been burglarized. The perpetrators stole a safe from inside of the building but were unsuccessful with forcing the safe open. Aside from some minor cosmetic damage to the exterior of the safe, there was no significant damage reported. There was damage to the door jamb resulting from the forced entry. Damage to the door jamb was estimated at $200. The investigation is continuing.

 

AKIACHAK
Sunday, May 25 – 9 p.m. Dominic Charles, 42, of Akiachak, was reported overdue by a family member. Charles left Akiachak at 3 p.m. via boat. Charles had three to four gallons of fuel and was missing the rear plug to his boat, which he lost two days before, and has to bail water all the time. At 9:15 p.m. a Village Public Safety Officer took a boat down river from Akiachak to look for Charles. At 10 p.m. the family called and said Charles had shown up at his home in Bethel. Charles said it took so long because he was egg hunting and his motor overheated twice.

AKIAK
Friday, May 23 – 1:45 p.m. While in Akiak, Alaska State Troopers arrested Lillian R. Jackson, 67, of Akiak, on two outstanding bench warrants. The warrants were issued by the Bethel 4th District for failing to appear at arraignments on two counts of violating custodian’s duty. Jackson was arrested without incident, transported to Bethel and remanded to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

ANIAK
Tuesday, May 13 – 1:56 p.m. Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence in Aniak after receiving a report of a burglary that occurred in the last 24 hours. A small number of items were taken. An investigation is continuing.

Saturday, May 17 – 10:45 a.m. Philip Simeon, 55, of Aniak, was arrested and charged with assault involving domestic violence. The victim did not require medical attention. Alcohol was involved. Simeon was transported to Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel and incarcerated. Alfred Morgan, 23, of Aniak, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, two counts of vehicle theft in the second degree, reckless endangerment and criminal trespass. Morgan was held at the Aniak Post until he could be transferred to Yukon Kuskokwim Correction Center in Bethel. Alcohol was involved.
 
Wednesday, May 28 – 9:50 a.m. Aniak Alaska State Troopers received a report of a subject transporting alcoholic beverages from Anchorage to the local option community of Shageluk. Victor L. Rock, 71, of Shageluk, was contacted at a local air carrier in Aniak, and five bottles of vodka were seized in violation of the prohibition of sale and importation of alcoholic beverages. The case will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for prosecution. An investigation is continuing.

CHUATHBALUK
Sunday, May 18 – 12:22 a.m. A domestic violence assault in Chuathbaluk was reported to the Alaska State Troopers Aniak Post. The victim did not require medical attention. The victim had departed the residence to a safer place for the night. An investigation continues.

BETHEL
Monday, May 26 – 7:55 p.m. The Alaska State Troopers contacted and arrested Edward M. Evon, 43, of Bethel, for driving with revoked operator’s license after the vehicle he was operating was stopped for a moving violation.

CHEVAK
Monday, May 19 – 2:43 p.m. The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report from the Office of Children Services that Edgar Knight Sr., 24, of Chevak, had repeatedly assaulted a 5-month-old baby and an adult female. Knight was arrested and charged with 10 counts of felony assault involving domestic violence and 33 counts of misdemeanor assault involving domestic violence. He will be transported and remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

EMMONAK
Tuesday, May 27 – 8:30 a.m. Alaska State Troopers were notified by Emmonak Subregional Clinic personnel that an expected home death had occurred that same morning. An investigation revealed that Camille Hootch, 77, of Emmonak, died at approximately 6 a.m. in the presence of next of kin. No foul play is suspected.
Thursday, May 22 – 11:55 p.m. The Alaska State Troopers Emmonak Post received a report of an unexpected home death. The troopers investigated and found that Kathryn M. Tucker, 55, of Anchorage, died of natural causes while visiting relatives in Emmonak.

GAMBELL
Saturday, May 17 – 6:40 p.m. Gambell village police contacted the Alaska State Troopers to report that Darrell Apatiki, 50, of Gambell, was in custody. An investigation showed Apatiki consumed alcohol in violation of his conditions of release and probation. Apatiki was transported to Nome and remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center.

Friday, May 23 – 11:40 a.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report of a domestic assault in Gambell. At 10:15 a.m. on May 24, troopers arrested and charged Tony Iworrigan, 42, of Gambell, with assault in the fourth degree. Iworrigan was transported to Nome and remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center.

Saturday, May 24 – 10:45 a.m. Alaska State Troopers arrested and charged Amy Slwooko, 20, of Gambell, with probation violation and habitual minor consuming alcohol. Slwooko was transported to Nome and remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center.

GOODNEWS BAY
Saturday, May 24 – Adolph Roberts, 63, Tommy Ayojiak, 24, Daniel Smith, 21, and Issac Lupie, 44, of Goodnews Bay, were reported to be stranded on the tundra near Carter Spit. The river the hunters crossed had washed out and subsequently stranded the hunters. Alaska State Troopers were unable to contact the stranded hunters because of high winds and bad weather. An AST pilot was dispatched to locate the stranded hunters and passed global positioning satellite coordinates to the nearby Alaska Army National Guard Black Hawk Helicopter that was dispatched in the area for another search and rescue. No injuries were reported.

Sunday, May 25 – 3:30 p.m. Bethel Alaska State Troopers received information from Goodnews Bay about a house that was burglarized. During the burglary, a resident was assaulted and sustained minor injuries. Alcohol was a factor. An investigation is ongoing.

HOOPER BAY
Tuesday, May 13 – The Children’s Advocacy Center in Bethel reported a possible sexual assault of a minor that was reported to them from Hooper Bay. The Alaska State Troopers are investigating.
Saturday, May 17 – 6:30 a.m. The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a call from Hooper Bay Village police officer who reported that he arrested and charged Ulrick Simon, 31, of Hooper Bay, with assault involving domestic violence. Ulrick was arraigned in Hooper Bay. Alcohol was a factor in this incident.

Tuesday, May 27 – 6:45 p.m. Sheila Smart, 19, of Hooper Bay, was arrested on an outstanding Alaska State Trooper warrant. Smart was transported and remanded at the Hooper Bay Police Department.

KIPNUK
Saturday, May 17 – The village public safety officer from Kipnuk contacted and arrested Charlie Charlie, 29, of Kipnuk, on an outstanding Alaska State Trooper warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. Charlie was transported and remanded at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center in Bethel.

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE
Wednesday, May 28 – 9:50 a.m. A village public safety officer received a report that a window had been broken out of vehicle belonging to the Lower Yukon School District. A subsequent investigation revealed that the driver’s side window was shattered in the pickup truck by an unknown source. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $300. An investigation continues.

NAPAKIAK
Wednesday, May 28 – Joshua Evan, 26, of Napakiak, was arrested in Napakiak on a warrant issued by the Bethel District Court. The charge was for a probation violation. Evan was transported to Bethel without incident and lodged at Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center pending arraignment.

Thursday, May 29 – Ronald P. Friday, 44, of Hooper Bay, was arrested in Napakiak and charged with assault in the fourth degree, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment in the first degree. Friday was transported to Bethel without incident and lodged at Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center pending arraignment.

NEWTOK
Monday, May 26 – 6:48 p.m. Tom Tom, 24, of Newtok, was arrested and charged with assaulting his father and two village police officers. Tom was held in Newtok until he was transported to Bethel and lodged at Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Alcohol was involved.

NUNAM IQUA
Wednesday, May 14 – Alaska State Troopers received a report from the village of Nunam Iqua that a 3-year-old was inappropriately touched by a 9-year-old on or about May 13. Investigation continues.

NUNAPITCHUK 
Wednesday, May 14 – 1:49 p.m. The village public safety officer received a report that a juvenile was threatening students and staff members at the Nunapitchuk School. An investigation continues.

QUINHAGAK
Saturday, May 24 – Darrell Small, 33, Richard Mark, 23, and Jack Carey, 44, of Quinhagak, were spotted by an Alaska State Trooper pilot and subsequently picked up by an Alaska Army National Guard Black Hawk helicopter. Because of the high winds in the area, the small boat they were hunting in became swamped and subsequently capsized near the shore of Jacksmith Bay. No injuries were reported.

TULUKSAK
Monday, May 26 – Bethel Alaska State Troopers received information from Tuluksak Village Police regarding a residence that was burglarized. During the burglary, the suspect entered the location with a knife and denied exit to the resident. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. An investigation is ongoing.

TUNTUTULIAK
Tuesday, May 27 – 10 a.m. The village public safety officer of Tuntutuliak arrested and charged Tom Carl, 38, of Tuntutuliak, with assault in the fourth degree after Carl allegedly assaulted his daughter. Carl was transported to Bethel and lodged at Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

ST. MARYS
Wednesday, May 7 – 3 p.m. A village public safety officer of St. Marys arrested and charged a 16-year-old male of St. Marys with violating conditions of his probation. The juvenile was transported to Bethel, where he was remanded at the Bethel Youth Facility.

TOKSOOK BAY
Wednesday, May 21 – 7:45 p.m. Alaska State Troopers were notified of a possible self-inflicted hanging and that medical personnel were on the scene administering resuscitative efforts. The efforts to resuscitate the patient were unsuccessful, and at about 7:50 p.m., the patient was pronounced dead by a physician’s assistant on the scene. The patient was identified as Kenneth Billy Henry, 30, of Toksook Bay. Henry had exhibited signs of depression earlier that day. The investigation revealed that Henry’s death was consistent with the report that the hanging was self-inflicted and that Henry died of probable asphyxiation. No foul play was suspected. The next of kin was notified. The state medical examiner’s office had been notified and ordered that the body remain with the family.

TULUKSAK
Thursday, May 22 – 3 p.m. Nelson G. Napoka was arrested at his residence in Tuluksak on an outstanding warrant issued by the Bethel Court. Napoka was transported to Bethel, where he was remanded to the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center and is being held on $7,500 bail.

 

ANIAK

CHEFORNAK
Saturday, May 3 – 9:44 p.m. The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a call from the Chefornak Village Public Safety Officer, who stated that he arrested Jovan Abraham, 18, of Chefornak, and charged him with assaulting his father at their residence in Chefornak. After further investigation by the officer, Abraham subsequently was charged with criminal mischief, domestic violence, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Abraham was later transported into Bethel, where he was remanded at Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Alcohol was not a factor.
 
CHUATHBALUK

Friday, May 16 – Matthew Black, 16, of Napakiak, was arrested on a $50 bench warrant on the charge of failure to appear for a status hearing for the charge of minor consuming. Black was transported to Bethel and lodged at Bethel Youth Facility.

SCAMMON BAY

Monday, May 12 – The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report from Scammon Bay Village Police of a sexual assault that may have occurred in Scammon Bay a couple of days before. This investigation is ongoing. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

ST. MARYS
Monday, May 12 – The St. Marys city manager, Richard Alstrom, reported that several city vehicles had been vandalized. The damage was estimated at $4,200. The investigation is ongoing.

TUNUNAK
Thursday, May 8 – Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report of harm from the Office of Children’s Services in Bethel and a written statement from the Tununak Tribal Police. The report of harm indicated that a possible sexual abuse of a minor may have occurred on Tuesday, May 6, in Tununak. The investigation is ongoing. About 12:30 p.m. Bethel Alaska State Troopers received information that a residence in Tununak had burned. An investigation revealed that Brenda Slats, 44, of Tununak, lost her house because of an apparent electrical fire. Family members were able to leave the residence before it became fully involved. There were no reported injuries. The residence valued at more than $75,000 was a complete loss.

TOKSOOK BAY
Friday, May 9 – 12:45 p.m. The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a call from Toksook Bay Village Police Officer Jonathan Charlie, who stated he had received a report from the Toksook Bay School that a 16-year-old student had assaulted a 12-year-old student. The 16-year-old, when confronted by school staff, proceeded to damage school property and then assaulted two members of the school staff before being restrained and escorted from the school by village police officers. The older student, with the authorization of the Department of Juvenile Justice, was later transported to Bethel, where he was remanded to the custody of the Bethel Youth Facility. This investigation is ongoing. Alcohol was not a factor.

ANIAK

Saturday, May 10 – 9:45 a.m. Nicholas Kameroff Jr., 45, of Aniak, reported to the Alaska State Troopers that Warren Vaska, 24, of Aniak, threatened him with a knife in the early morning hours. Troopers said that alcohol appeared to be involved in the incident. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation continues.

Sunday, May 11 – 7:22 a.m. Ben Morgan, of Aniak, reported to the Alaska State Troopers, Aniak Post, that his house was entered that morning by someone who took his iPod and a camera. The iPod was valued at $200 and the camera at $160. Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to contact the Aniak Trooper Post.    

BETHEL

Friday, May 9 – 6:30 p.m. Bethel Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team contacted Karl D. Jones, 29, of Quinhagak, at a local air carrier in Bethel. During the contact, Bethel WAANT located two 750-milliliter bottles of R and R Whisky within Jones’ luggage. The bottles were seized, and a charge of importation will be forwarded to the Bethel district attorney’s office against Jones. 7 p.m. Bethel Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team contacted Josephine H. Smart, 26, of Quinhagak, at a local air carrier in Bethel. During the contact, Bethel WAANT located 18 grams of marijuana on Smart’s person. The marijuana was seized, and a charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the sixth degree will be forwarded to the Bethel district attorney’s office.

GOODNEWS BAY

Monday, May 12 – 10 a.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report of two sexual assaults, committed by the same person, one at 2 a.m. and one at 7 a.m. A subsequent investigation revealed that a male attempted assault on two adult females. Willis Clayborn, 23, of Goodnews Bay was arrested and charged with sexual assault in the second degree and transported to Bethel and remanded to the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center.

KIPNUK

Thursday, May 15 – 12:30 p.m. Village Public Safety Officer Chris Alexie, from Kipnuk, arrested Ronnie R. Peter, 40, of Kipnuk, on an arrest warrant for two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree. Peter was transported to Bethel and lodged pending his $2,500 bail. At about the same time, Alexie arrested Sonya Paul, 22, of Kipnuk, on a bench warrant for failure to appear for her arraignment on the original charge of domestic violence violation. Paul was transported to Bethel and lodged pending her $250 bail.

KWIGILLINOK

Friday, May 9 – The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a report of harm from the Office of Children’s Services in Bethel. The report of harm indicated the possible sexual abuse of a number of minors that had occurred earlier this month in Kwigillingok. This investigation is ongoing. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident.

LOWER KALSKAG

Saturday, May 10 – The Alaska State Troopers in Bethel received a call from the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital emergency room staff, who requested troopers to respond to the hospital for an assault victim that had just arrived from Lower Kalskag. The victim, Zackar Littlefish, 52, of Lower Kalskag, reported that on the night of May 9 he was assaulted in his own residence by John Evan, 37, of Upper Kalskag. As a result of the assault, Littlefish sustained serious physical injury to his right hand and was flown to Bethel for treatment of his injuries at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital emergency room. This investigation is ongoing. Alcohol was a factor.

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE

Thursday, May 8 – 10 p.m. Alaska State Troopers received a report of a robbery in Mountain Village. A subsequent investigation revealed that a Bethel woman was in town visiting family and attending graduation ceremonies. After the graduation ceremony, the woman was walking home with friends when she was confronted by four male individuals. Harry Aguchak, 25, Franklin Gregory Jr., 27, Arnold Agwiak, 20, and Mitch Galen Waskey, 19, all of Mountain Village, were involved in an altercation with the victim, according to the trooper report. An investigation revealed that the victim had imported alcohol and had sold a bottle to Aguchak. A fight ensued, and the victim’s purse and backpack were stripped off of her body. The victim received multiple injuries that were not life-threatening and was transported to Bethel for treatment. Alcohol and $1,000 in cash were taken during the incident. Aguchak, Gregory, Agwiak and Waskey were arrested on May 9 and charged with robbery in the second degree, theft in the second degree and assault in the fourth degree. Additional charges of violating conditions of release and minor consuming are pending. All four subjects were transported to Bethel, where they were remanded at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center. An investigation continues.

Friday, May 9 – 8:15 a.m. Alaska State Troopers contacted Peter Moses Jr., 37, of Mountain Village. Moses was arrested without incident on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. He was transported to Bethel and remanded at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Correctional Center. Bail is set at $500.
