Beavers are causing problems for residents along Bethel’s watercourses. Before destroying a dam, residents should trap the beavers. Trapping season began on December 1 and continues through March 31. The DEEP Wildlife Division can provide a list of approved trappers.
The Board of Selectmen has approved $88000 from remaining ARPA funds to support school security upgrades. This collaboration between the town and school administration is a great example of teamwork.
The Planning and Zoning Commission will continue a public hearing on December 10 regarding 9 Putnam Park Road. The commission will also discuss Transient Oriented Development and the town’s Traffic and Mobility Study.
The Bethel Police Department, The Toy Room, and Byrd’s Books are hosting a Stuff-A-Cruiser Book and Toy Drive on December 8. Santa will arrive at 11 am.
Walnut Hill Church is hosting a Big Band Christmas Concert on December 13, with proceeds supporting the Walnut Hill Community Food Pantry. The Bethel WinterGuard is hosting a Breakfast with Santa on December 15. Reserve your tickets now.
In addition, the town has announced holiday hours. The transfer station will close at 11 am on December 24 and 31. The Town Hall will be closed on December 20 and will close at 12 pm on December 24 and 31.
Furthermore, the community is coming together to support local families. The Plumtrees Schoolhouse Sing-a-Long is scheduled for December 14, and the St. Thomas Church 28th Annual Cookie Sale will also take place on that day.
