The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has launched a real-time community update platform to provide verified information about recovery operations following the 2025 West Coast Storm.
The new online resource, titled “Community Updates / Ellangllugpiim Nalluuniaruti,” includes detailed updates on infrastructure repairs, water and sanitation restoration, and local recovery activities in multiple affected communities.
As of October 28, more than 20 contractors and 121 field personnel, including DOT&PF staff, local hires, and partner crews, are working across nearly 30 communities along Alaska’s western coastline. Their assignments include restoring road access, utilities, and public safety systems.
The number of active workers is increasing as temporary work authorizations continue to be approved. DOT&PF officials confirmed that collaboration with local governments and community partners has been an essential factor in maintaining steady progress.
Residents can now monitor recovery status through the DOT&PF’s real-time community update page, which publishes continuous data, verified reports, and photographs from each location.
The update page is available at:

It can also be accessed from the Alaska DOT&PF main website by selecting the yellow banner labeled “2025 West Coast Storm Updates.”
The department also recognized Adolph Lewis for his contribution to the Yup’ik translations, ensuring the updates are available to a broader audience across the region.
The platform currently features updates on infrastructure restoration, sanitation systems, and community resource coordination. These recovery activities are part of Alaska’s ongoing effort to restore critical services and rebuild affected coastal areas following the 2025 storm season.
