The Armed Services YMCA of Alaska seeks nominations for its 2025 Salute to Military awards. The awards recognize civilians who have supported troops in Alaska and exceptional enlisted service members. Two civilians will be honored with this year’s awards: the Alaska Military Spouse of the Year and the Bobby Alexander Civic Leader of the Year.
According to Kat Franchino, Marketing Director for ASYMCA of Alaska, the nonprofit organization represents enlisted members from all branches of the military in Alaska. The awards are an opportunity to highlight the sacrifices these younger service members make while stationed in the Last Frontier.
Moreover, the awards will also be bestowed upon 13 enlisted service members deemed exceptional. Recipients of the Service Persons of the Year awards are chosen by their command and are seen as having gone above and beyond.
Additionally, the civilian awards were added to the proceedings a couple of years ago. Service groups choose the honorees based on the qualities outlined in the nomination form.
The awards are slated for February 15 in Anchorage. Those nominating others are asked to fill out a form explaining why they are nominating a specific person. The support they’ve given the military, and any awards they may have already received.
Furthermore, nomination forms can be completed on the ASYMCA of Alaska website. The deadline for nominations is approaching quickly, so it’s essential to submit nominations as soon as possible.
The Salute to Military awards is a great way to honor those who have dedicated their service to the military and their community. By recognizing their sacrifices and achievements, we can show appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
