A new transportation option is coming to the central Kenai Peninsula next month, with four buses set to begin daily roundtrips between Kenai, Nikiski, and Soldotna as part of a recently announced tribal transit service.
The service aims to expand reliable, affordable public transportation for residents who commute between the three communities for work, school, medical appointments, and essential errands. The routes will operate daily, with multiple roundtrips scheduled to improve access across the region.
The new buses will be operated by the tribe through its transportation program, which has been working to increase mobility options for both tribal citizens and the general public. Officials say the service is designed to reduce transportation barriers, especially for residents without personal vehicles or those living in outlying areas.

Detailed schedules, fares, and stop locations are expected to be released in the coming weeks. The tribe says the launch is part of a broader effort to strengthen community connectivity and support economic and social needs across the Kenai Peninsula.
More information will be shared as the service prepares for its official start next month.
