As part of their ongoing conflict against Hezbollah positions, Israeli Airstrikes at Beirut International Airport resulted in massive explosions. Over the previous 24 hours, Israeli attacks have killed 37 people and injured 151 more in Lebanon; smoke billowed from the skies above Dahieh, a Hezbollah stronghold. As the ground incursion proceeded, Israeli soldiers also eliminated Hezbollah fighters along the border.
The Lebanese army reported that combat killed two soldiers. One soldier died during a Red Cross evacuation effort, while another fell in an Israeli attack on an army position in Bint Jbeil. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) ordered residents to evacuate twenty towns and villages, including Nabatieh, for safety. The impacted localities are located north of the Litani River.
Hezbollah retaliated by attacking Israeli forces near the border and firing over 230 missiles into Israel. Most of these missiles either Israeli forces intercepted or they landed in remote, uninhabited areas. If Israeli soldiers tried to press deeper into border communities, Hezbollah said it would fight back.
According to the head of the World Food Programme in Lebanon, the situation due to the Israeli Airstrikes in Beirut is horrific, with thousands of people displaced. According to the International Rescue Committee, nearly half of Lebanon’s displaced people were youngsters.
Furthermore, the intelligence offices and weapons storage facilities of Hezbollah were the targets of Israeli attacks, which killed over 1,300 people in Lebanon and forced over a million to flee their homes. Israel’s most recent airstrikes on Beirut came just a day after targeting a residential building in the city. The strike killed nine people, including seven first responders from a Hezbollah-affiliated civil defense service.
