A very limited snowmachine corridor has reopened at Hatcher Pass following extensive efforts by the Hatcher Pass Snow Riders and Mat-Su State Parks crews, officials announced.
The reopening allows snowmachine access only along the Fishhook Trail corridor, beginning at the Fishhook parking lot and continuing over the pass to Summit Road. Access is restricted strictly to the designated trail and Summit Road.
All other areas remain closed, including terrain below the Fishhook parking area, Gold Mint, and the entirety of Archangel Valley.
Officials emphasized that this is a soft opening due to thin and fragile snow cover. The corridor is intended solely to provide limited access to the west side of the pass. Any off-trail riding, freestyle activity, or resource damage could result in an immediate closure of the area.
Riders are urged to stay strictly on the marked trail, avoid straying even slightly off route, and respect all restrictions. Authorities stressed that careful, responsible riding is essential to maintaining access as conditions improve.

Crews thanked the Hatcher Pass Snow Riders and Mat-Su State Parks staff for their work in making the limited opening possible and reminded riders to prioritize safety and stewardship while traveling through the area.
