Two workers remain hospitalized after a sudden fire broke out Friday afternoon at a ConocoPhillips site near Alpine, Alaska. According to the company, a localized flash fire erupted at the Alpine Central Facility around 2:30 p.m., injuring three employees.
As soon as the fire broke out all operations in the affected area were immediately shut down to prioritize employee safety and response. The injured workers received emergency treatment at the Alpine Medical Clinic before they were airlifted to an Anchorage hospital for care.
According to the latest update from Conocophillips, one injured person had recovered enough to be released by Sunday morning. The other two injured employees remain hospitalized in Anchorage, but medical staff report that both are currently in stable condition.
ConocoPhillips added that it continues to offer support and assistance to the individuals and their families during recovery. The company did not provide further details about what might have caused the sudden blaze at the industrial facility.
However, officials confirmed that a formal investigation is underway to determine the exact origin and cause of the fire. This incident has raised concerns about workplace safety and fire protocols at remote oil and gas facilities.
