Snow removal crews continued overnight operations across the Fairbanks area following recent winter storms, with officials reporting progress on several key routes but warning that hazardous conditions remain.
According to the latest update, Priority 1 routes were plowed again overnight to maintain access on major roads. Crews also cleared sections of Chena Hot Springs Road (mileposts 8–56), Chena Pump Road and Ridge areas, and Airport Frontage Road between Noble Street and Geraghty Avenue.
Sidewalk clearing has begun along Davis Road, while a contracted team completed work on Priority 3 and 4 routes shortly before midnight.
Transportation officials said Wednesday’s plan includes re-plowing Priority 1 routes, continuing work on Priority 2 roads, and addressing remaining Priority 3 and 4 areas affected by storm accumulation. Additional sidewalk clearing is also scheduled.
Despite progress, travel conditions remain challenging. Large snow berms and narrowed lanes are significantly impacting mobility across parts of the city. Forecasters expect winds between 10 and 20 mph, which could lead to drifting snow and reduced visibility throughout the day.

Drivers are urged to slow down, use caution, and allow snowplow operators adequate space to work. Officials recommend checking current road conditions at 511.alaska.gov or dialing 511 before traveling, noting that conditions can change rapidly.
