State transportation officials are inviting the public to take part in an upcoming virtual public meeting focused on proposed safety and mobility improvements at the Egan Drive and Yandukin Drive intersection, commonly known as the Fred Meyer intersection.
The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) says the project aims to make the intersection safer and easier to navigate for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Plans include converting the area to a partially signalized intersection, designed to improve traffic flow while enhancing connectivity and safety for all users.
The online public meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom. Project staff will share details about the design approach, explain why a partially signalized option was selected, outline expected safety benefits, and review the project timeline. Community members will also have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.

DOT&PF officials encourage residents, nearby businesses, and commuters who regularly use the intersection to attend and share their perspectives. Additional project information is available on the DOT&PF website, and a Facebook event page has also been created to help residents stay informed.
Public input gathered during the meeting will help guide final decisions as the project moves forward.
