A liquor store in the Midwest had an unusual surprise this week when employees discovered a raccoon passed out in the store’s bathroom, apparently after getting into alcohol.
According to local officials, the raccoon had entered the store overnight through an unsecured vent. Workers found spilled bottles on the floor and the animal unresponsive but breathing inside the restroom. Animal control officers were called to safely remove it.
Veterinarians said the raccoon appeared to be intoxicated after drinking from open containers but recovered fully after being monitored and rehydrated. The animal was later released back into the wild.

Officials reminded businesses to secure openings, especially as wildlife searches for shelter and food during colder months.
No injuries were reported, and the store has since repaired the vent to prevent future incidents.
