A late-night shooting rattled the quiet community of Parkview condos in northeast Anchorage during the early hours of Thursday morning. Jack Gelionea, a two-year resident of the complex, remained unaware that bullets had entered his home until a police officer arrived.
Gelione works late most evenings and said he usually falls asleep around 2 or 3 a.m., missing the exact moment of the shots. Shortly after dozing off that night, he heard noises outside but dismissed them due to the area’s frequent background gunfire.
Around the time of the incident, Anchorage police were already responding to reports of gunfire coming from outside the Parkview condo building. An officer knocked on Geliones’s door, waking him from a groggy sleep and alerting him to the shooting that had occurred.
Gelionea recalled that he opened the door confused, and the officer pointed to his window and TV, both damaged by bullet holes. A member of the Parkview Condo Owners Association estimated that 12 to 15 shots were likely fired into the building.
The Anchorage Police Department confirmed the ongoing investigation and classified the case as misconduct involving a weapon. Parkview’s Condo Owners Association stated they’ve officially filed a report with APD to support efforts in resolving the incident.
Residents expressed concern, but no injuries were reported, and police have yet to confirm any suspects or potential motives. This incident has raised concerns among homeowners, many demanding more security.
