Alaska’s tourism season is wrapping up, and businesses are reflecting on the summer’s success. Ian Stewart from Your Alaska Link spoke with Anchorage entrepreneurs to get the scoop.
Casey Neumann, who runs Grizzly Gifts, Phillips Cruises and Tours, and the Anchorage Hotel, reported a thriving season. “We had great numbers, our new boat was booked solid, and our hotel did well,” she said. The influx of visitors brought a welcome boost to her businesses.
Michael Bialy, co-owner of the Red Umbrella Reindeer Hot Dog cart, also saw a significant increase in activity compared to last year. “Everything ran smoothly, and we’re considering adding another cart to reach even more people next year,” he noted.
Hiram Hernandez, owner of Alaska Fur Gallery, had a strong season, with busy stores in both Anchorage and Southeast Alaska. “In Juneau, we had six ships arrive in one day, followed by five the next. Skagway and Ketchikan were also bustling, while Sitka saw a steady stream of visitors,” he shared.
Although the last cruise ship won’t arrive until October 14th, businesses will remain busy until then. Overall, Alaska’s tourism season has been a success, with many entrepreneurs already looking forward to next year’s opportunities.
The summer rush brought a surge in sales, with tourists eager to experience Alaska’s natural beauty and unique products. Local businesses capitalized on the influx, offering a range of activities and goods. As the season winds down, business owners are optimistic about the future, citing the potential for growth and expansion. With its stunning landscapes and warm hospitality, Alaska remains a top destination for travelers.
