The Alaska Department of Health announced a significant step forward in the fight against the opioid crisis on Monday. Next, they revealed the 18 recipients of the Statewide Opioid Settlement grant, totaling almost $3 million.
First, in Anchorage, Region 1, Akeela, Alaska’s Children’s Trust, and Volunteers of America Alaska will receive grants. These total $399,000, supporting local health programs and services.
Meanwhile, in the Gulf Coast, Region 3, three organizations will benefit. Central Peninsula General Hospital, Kachemak Bay Recovery Connections, and Set Free will each receive $142,000.
In addition, in the Interior, Mat-Su, and Northern regions, seven organizations will share $999,000. This funding supports health programs and services in rural areas.
Furthermore, in Southeast Alaska, Region 6, Kin Support Program, Petersburg Medical Center, and Prince of Wales Health Network will each receive $142,000. It helps combat the opioid crisis in coastal communities.
Finally, in Southwest Alaska, Region 7, Bethel Family Clinic, Camai Community Health Center, and Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association Inc. will each receive $142,000. It supports health programs in remote areas.
