Alaska Dive Rescue Team Announced a major equipment boost while continuing to seek community support to expand its training and mission response capabilities.
The team confirmed it has received a donated, unserviceable aluminum aircraft frame from Sutton Aircraft Salvage, which will be used exclusively for training purposes. The donation is expected to significantly improve hands-on preparedness for complex recovery and rescue scenarios.
Despite the progress, the organization says additional resources are urgently needed. For training, the team is looking for an unserviceable or older aluminum boat, with or without a cabin, no larger than 24 feet in length and without a motor.
For active mission response, the group is also seeking a long-term donated or leased building or land within 45 minutes of Anchorage, with 24-hour access. The space must be large enough to store boats, trucks, and equipment, or suitable for placing a temporary or semi-permanent structure. An 80-foot by 90-foot cleared or paved area would meet current operational needs, with additional room required for vehicle maneuvering.

In addition, the organization is requesting financial support, sponsors, grant writers, and general donors to help replace a remotely operated vehicle (ROV), maintain and service dive equipment, and cover mission response and fuel costs. The group emphasized that 99 percent of all donations go directly toward operations, with no team members receiving pay.
