A key traffic signal at the busy Airport Way and Lathrop Street intersection has been placed in flash mode after the traffic cabinet was damaged in a recent collision.
City transportation officials confirmed that the cabinet, which controls the signal’s full operation, was struck late this week, forcing the intersection to switch into flashing mode. A replacement cabinet has been ordered and is expected to be installed by late next week.
Until then, drivers will notice the signal flashing red or yellow instead of cycling normally.

Motorists are reminded to treat the intersection as a four-way stop, slowing down, checking for cross-traffic and pedestrians, and proceeding only when the roadway is clear. Authorities are asking drivers to use extra caution, especially during peak travel hours on Airport Way.
The city will issue an update once the new cabinet is installed and the signal is fully operational again.
