Tuntutuliak fun run remembers teacher

Tuntutuliak has a fun run every year because of David Townsend.

David Townsend was the “Tunt” teacher who invented the fun run. Dave invented the run one year before he died of a massive heart attack.

People run and walk around the village, and some other adults join the students. When we are done running around the village, we get some prizes and treats like ice cream.

We run all over the village — mostly by the Corp. store, Post Office, by Lisa and Alice Fitka’s house, Pavila’s store and back to the school.

The first five across the finish line were:
1) Philip Lupie
2) Randy Lupie
3) Jerrold Simon
4) Lawrence Pavila
5) Duncan Carl.

Lawrence Pavila is a seventh-grader and Thomas Friendly is a sixth-grader at Lewis Angapak Memorial School in Tuntutuliak.
